This is not the last post!! Just because I am finishing the garage with Rust-Oleum's RockSolid Garage Floor Coating Kit, I will tell you my thoughts of the product, where I thought things were good, what I think would be better to improve upon, and things I would do differently IF I had to do this again... and it would all be covered in a future post.

Now, Time to finish the floor! So when we last left off I said "On Friday, it was time to see some fruits of our labor by applying Rust-Oleum's RockSolid Garage Floor Coating Kit."

Let me say, looking back at this step, I am glad that I had extra help, because once you have the epoxy mixed, you have a limited time to work with the material. We laid out the bags of epoxy roughly where we thought we would need the next bag based on square footage. I had one daughter "cutting in the trim" along all of the baseboards. I rolled the floors with the color, my wife tossed the chips in the air across the floor, and our other daughter mixed the bags, popped the bags, opened the bags and took pictures of the process.

Once the first bag was mixed and opened, a small ribbon of the RockSolid Garage Floor Coating was poured onto the floor and my daughter painted along the edge of the wall. We used the roller to spread the material to cover the floor and I had 4 sets of eyes to make sure that coverage was sufficient and that no spots were missed. I know that if I had done this all on my own, I would have missed spots, but I am fortunate enough to have help. My wife then tossed pinches of flakes into the air so that they would land evenly.

The color on the floor looked great There are a few things that I would do differently, but I will cover that in my next post. Overall, I love the look and feel of the floor, and if you want a really high shine, you could stop here. We have LED lights, as well as we get a lot of foot traffic in this area, so I wanted a little more protection, so we added Rust-Oleum's RockSolid Textured Clear Coating Kit.

This kit takes away the high gloss shine and leaves a satin finish (which I like), and it adds traction and a protective layer to the floor. It mixes and applies just like the color coat, but the only way to know where you have been is based on the sheen of the floor.

My family is ready for a vacation, so we will leave all of this for about a week before we will look at it again, but according to the instructions we could be on it again within 24 hours.
