Spring cleaning with Rust-Oleum

Submitted to Blog

April is National Car Care Month, the perfect time of year for regular care maintenance, and the ideal time to tidy up the exterior and interior of the car after the long winter months.

Matt Badgley, senior R&D scientist at Rust-Oleum came up with a spring cleaning checklist for drivers this spring.

Before moving to the checklist, a thorough car wash is recommended to remove all the salt and road grime that accumulates over the winter. In addition to the exterior & interior, be sure to thoroughly rinse wheel wells and undercarriage.

  1. Check and replace wiper blades for optimal visibility.
  2. Check and top off fluids, especially your windshield washer fluid.
  3. Clean windshield and windows using an automotive, ammonia free glass cleaner with water-repellant qualities.
(Bonus tip! When you are cleaning your windows, roll them down slightly so you can clean the top area that is usually tucked into the vehicle)
  4. Remove floor mats and shake off debris to eliminate hidden dirt. Hose them down and clean them using Krud Kutter, then let them dry outside.
  5. Vacuum upholstery and carpets thoroughly.
  6. Check your filters, particularly your air filter and cabin air filter. Doing this yourself, instead of having a mechanic replace, can save a lot of money.
  7. Finish with Rust-Oleum’s Wipe New Interior Detailer to give your car a unique tropical scent.

Happy cleaning!
