Ask Pete Anything recap: part 3️⃣

@Pete Gonzalez answers your questions in Ask Pete Anything!

Q: Does Pete know Jeeps? Pete, whats the biggest tire you can run on a stock Jeep Wrangler JK. This is a timeless question that has been heavily debated on my forums and if you are as good as they say you are then we all hope that you can finally put the answer to this question to bed! Thanks in advance, @kight84

Pete: Thanks for asking! I’m more of a necessity driven jack of all trades, but I’ll do my best 😬

First, I’d say it’s a trick question, stock Jeeps don’t exist  😆

Then...it depends. In a fully stock JK with stock wheels, 33x10 max.  If off-roading with a lot of flex, I’d stick to 32’s to avoid rubbing.

If using aftermarket wheels with backspacing/offset, or 2” spacers on you stock wheels you could run 35’s, but I don’t know if I would call that “stock”.

Tires are expensive, and driving comfort and longevity are important to me, so now that I’m a family man my opinion maybe more on the conservative side. 😎👍

My younger self probably would have put 35’s on and made them fit. 😳

Q: A solid change: Ok so my cam got wiped out by a faulty lifter it was hydraulic flat tappet with a 526/547 lift now I'm going solid with 560/580lift will my push rod length change and do I have to change rocker ratio I currently have 1.5 scorpion rockers. - @Jerseymike74

Pete: What a bummer with that faulty lifter @Jerseymike74. What an incredible build! Generally there are a few more factors that would come into play for determining rod length after changing your cam out.

Have the heads or block been milled?

Are you going with a thinker gasket?

Yes, your inner diameter is smaller on a larger cam so this will effect rod length but so will the gasket size or if the heads/block was milled.

In most cases the best thing would be to mock it up and see, since other things can be a factor.

While mocking it up you will also be able to determine if your rockers are the correct ratio as well.

In your case it doesn’t seem like you will need to change the existing 1.5 scorpions because your cam is going larger. If your cam was staying the same then I would say yes go for a larger ratio rocker since that would seem like you added a larger cam at that point to allow for more power and torque.

While it is mocked up you can always check and verify the pushrod hole clearance and the guide plate to determine if your rocker ratio is correct with the new cam.

Mocking it up will would probably be the best way to determine your rod length and rocker ratio since other factors are involved like thickness of gaskets and if any milling occurred.

Last but not least, valve springs. Since your old cam got knocked out it might have sent a ripple effect and could have harmed other parts. I would fully inspect that all value springs are in good shape. Those always seem to go over looked.

Hope this helps in anyway as I am not an expert mechanic but I do know my way around engines. 👍👍

Q: Sequence of installation order: Hi Pete, number one I love the sight and being able to be a Wipe New test dummy 😂

I now have the shiniest Cadillac in my 55 over community, so here’s my question and maybe it’ll help other members with Wipe New products.

I received Graphene Infused Ceramic Coating to test and comment on and went out to the garage and proceeded to apply and review (wonderful shine and ease of use). Three weeks later I was asked to be a test dummy again and review Ceramic Boost Hybrid Sealant and was happy to do so, it showed up and out to the garage I go and polish the Cadillac to the point of everyone in the neighborhood is putting on sunglasses when we leave the house 😂😎

Well I’m a glutton for free stuff so low and behold Wipe New ask me to review Ceramic Wax and I sign up, glad my suv is not a suburba. Now to the question: which order should I have installed the 3 great products

I have not installed the Wipe New Ceramic Wax as of yet but depending on your answer I might have the shiniest and slickest golf cart in Florida.  Keep up the great Rusto Garage info coming, thanks. - @lpskaug@yahoo.com

Pete: Bravo 👏👏👏 for your success with WipeNew and thank you for participating! As far as the order of application goes I would expect the products to work well in any order, but the best recommendation would be to either start with the Ceramic Wax or Graphene Spray, then use the Boost Hybrid Sealant on top on a more frequent basis to continually refresh the performance.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions or concerns and thanks again!
