Today we're doing a deep dive with Rusto Garage member @kight84 - drop a comment to this Jeep lover in the comments below ⬇️

What brought you to Rusto Garage?

I saw an ad on social media about Rusto Garage.  I said "what's this?" and clicked on it.

What’s your favourite part of this online community?

I like to see the projects that other Rusto Garage members share.

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?

I am an avid Jeeper who likes to hit the Arizona desert every weekend with my family.  I run a high volume aftermarket automotive repair facility.

What interests you most about the automotive world?

I like taking a vehicle that was designed by a bunch of high paid engineers and making it better by modifying it to suit my particular application.

What automotive projects do you like to focus on?

I am always working on/modifying my Jeep to perform better off-road.  I tend to focus on projects that make it easier and/or safer to wheel in extreme conditions such as Arizona summers.

What is your favourite Rust-Oleum product?

My favorite Rust-Oleum product is the spray on bedliner.  I once painted the entire exterior on a Jeep XJ tan (square body Jeep Cherokee).

How has it helped with your automotive projects?

I beat that Jeep XJ half to death off-road.  The Rust-Oleum spray on bed liner hid so many imperfections it almost looked flawless from a distance and it held up like a champ!

What is your favorite automotive project you’ve done and how did you accomplish it?

Once upon a time in a land far away I bought a '57 Chevy Handyman roller from an estate sale.  We gave it a murdered out flat black Rust-Oleum rattle can paint job and dropped in an LS1 linked to a manual transmission.  Installed the stainless steel big brake kit and sold it at Goodguys.  Bonus points if you know where the fuel filler is on a '57 Chevy Handyman! [anyone playing for bonus points???]

What’s the most challenging project you have tackled (or are putting off!)?

I've  been putting off the 1 ton axle conversion on my Jeep.  It's is super out of my budget.  But if I had an extra $30k it'd be done in a week!

If you could create any type of automotive product/project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

I would create an event where people with a physical handicap could experience the joy of off-roading.

What is your dream ride?

That's a super easy question to answer.  A 1949-1953 Willys CJ3A towing a Bantam trailer.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know about you.

I was raised by all women.  My bio dad wasn't around at all while I was growing up and my mom, her 3 sisters, and my grandmother raised me!

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

There are 2 types of people in the world.  Those who make excuses and those who make it happen. Only you can decide if you want to be a victim or a victor!

Kicking back for a relaxing night: what’s your favorite meal? What will you be watching?

Iron pies over a campfire and ice cold beers while watching the stars out in the Arizona desert.

Nice to get to know you better, @kight84!
