When buying new brushes the hairs are not going to be perfect out of the box.
You will need to trim the tips of the swords (if needed) before use.
If the end hairs are not trimmed off the brush will never sit correctly when trying to start a line. This will cause the brush to sway to one side or the other when planting the brush down.
Loading the brush with mineral oil after cleaning and trimming is a good way to preserve your brushes.
